Hartney Friends of the Pool Committee

The Hartney Friends of the Pool Committee was thrilled to receive funding from the Brandon and Area Community Foundation to go towards the new pool liner and the Kiddy Spray Park at Hartney Pool ! Our committee was formed in 2010 when local community members saw a need to replace our aging pool liner (almost 20 years old), and to establish a small Kiddy Spray Park .

Being a small rural community , our local pool is the hub of action during the hot summer months. For generations, infants to old age pensioners have utilized our facility. The Hartney Pool is located directly beside our campground and a newly established playground, making it the perfect spot for family interaction!

Our school students utilize the pool for school swim lessons which are incorporated into the physical education program each June. As well, the pool is filled with individuals of all ages , completing their Red Cross Swimming Programs , Adult lessons, aqua sizes and of course daily /evening recreational swimming . Our Community Pool also provides job opportunities for summer employment ….a great option in a small town !

In order to facilitate all these programs and to provide summer employment , our liner had to be replaced. We also saw the need to replace the non-operational wading pool with a useful Spray Park for our many young water enthusiasts. With the wonderful support of our community, many fundraisers, donations , and grants we have been able to raise over $126,000!

It is through the funding supplied by such organizations as the Brandon and Area Community Foundation ,   that we are very close to achieving our goals ! The liner has been ordered and will be installed this spring. Hopefully with continued fundraising and successful grant applications , we will be able to complete the Kiddy Spray Park in 2013.

Hartney is a small town with a lot of heart ,and we greatly appreciate Brandon and Area Foundation’s support in making our “Friends of the Pool” project a reality !
