Brandon, MB. A star of Montreal’s famous Just for Laughs Comedy Festival has been

confirmed for a special appearance at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium this October.

The Brandon Area Community Foundation is excited to announce that the “Canadian

Master”, Dave Hemstad will be bringing his popular stand-up comedy show to the city on

Wednesday, October 29, 2014.  Performance will start at 7:30 pm.

Tickets to the event, with proceeds going to the Brandon Area Community Foundation, will be available to purchase on Friday, July 4th at 9am at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium Box Office.

Brashly confident on stage with clean, refreshing motivational humour, Hemstad muses on daily, life, modern world frustrations and social tensions that we all experience.

In addition to recently hosted a half hour special on CTV called comedy Now, he is a regular on the CBC’s The Debators and has been a guest on Connect with Mark Kelly and the Strombo Show.  In addition to starring at Montreal’s prestigious Just for Laughs Festival, Hemstad has been a headliner at both the Halifax and Winnipeg Comedy Festivals.

Chosen Canada’s Best Comedian by the Canadian Organization of Campus Activities, Hemstad decided to go on stage and try his luck at comedy after a bolt of lightning derailed his hopes of being a professional golfer.

Tickets to Hemstad’s show are $50 and in addition to being available at the box office, they can be purchased by calling 204-728-9510 or online at www.wmca.ca

Quote from Phil Weiss, BACF Board Chair:  Please join us for an evening laughs with comedian Dave Hemstad.  It will be an outstanding performance and a great way to support the Brandon Area Community Foundation.

The Brandon Area Community Foundation was established in 1965 and invests the contributions that it receives in a perpetual endowment fund, using the income earned to make grants to a wide range of charitable groups throughout the year.  These grants benefit local communities throughout southwestern Manitoba.
