Brandon Area Community Foundation | Part-Time (0.5 FTE) | In-Office | Brandon, MB
About Us
Brandon Area Community Foundation (BACF) is a public foundation rooted in southwestern Manitoba. We connect donors with causes they care about, manage endowment funds that benefit our region for generations, and invest in community through strategic grant-making. With nearly $30M in assets and approximately 100 funds, we’re growing, and we’re building the team to match.
The Opportunity
This is a newly created position and a chance to be part of something meaningful. As BACF’s Accounting and Finance Officer, you’ll be the financial engine of the organization, the person who keeps our books accurate, our reporting timely, and our audit-ready. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director and play a key role in the Foundation’s long-term sustainability.
The position starts at 18.75 hours per week (0.5 FTE), with a defined path to grow to full-time by 2030 as the Foundation’s revenue grows. If you’re a detail-oriented finance professional looking for work that matters and a role you can grow into, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
  • Manage all day-to-day financial operations including fund accounting, bank reconciliations, bill payments, and cheque processing in CommunitySuite (C Suite)
  • Process donation receipts in compliance with CRA requirements
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and fund holder reports
  • Manage payroll, government remittances (CPP, EI, T4As, GST), and regulatory filings
  • Support the annual audit and prepare working papers in collaboration with the Foundation’s accounting firm
  • Work with the Executive Director on budget preparation, cash flow monitoring, and financial policy development
  • Maintain secure, organized financial records in accordance with Board policy and applicable legislation
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education or a diploma or certificate in accounting, finance, or business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with computerized accounting or fund accounting software (CommunitySuite experience is a strong asset)
  • Solid knowledge of CRA rules and regulations as they apply to registered charities
  • A high degree of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
  • A genuine interest in community and the work of a public foundation
Compensation and Details
  • Starting wage: $34.00 – $37.00/hr.
  • Annual increases – reviewed each January
  • 18.75 hours per week, with a defined path to full-time by 2030
  • In-office position based in Brandon, MB
