Congratulations to our 2025 Youth in Philanthropy Scholarship Recipients!

January 22, 2026

We offer our most sincere congratulations to the 2025 Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) Scholarship recipients!
Presented to students graduating in 2025 from the Brandon School Division’s École Secondaire Neelin High School and Vincent Massey High School, these $1,000 awards support their future educational endeavours.

While one of the recipients has requested anonymity, please join us in congratulating Kendra Beaumont (Neelin; photo at right), currently studying science at the University of Alberta, and Eshal Faisal (Vincent Massey; photo at left), currently studying science at the University of Calgary.

The Youth in Philanthropy program was established 20 years ago to encourage students to learn more about local and regional charities by researching community needs and directing funds to organizations of their choice.

With support from the Brandon Area Community Foundation, United Way West Central Manitoba, and donor-directed contributions, YIP students have granted more than $265,000 to organizations across Brandon and western Manitoba.

In addition to their granting efforts, YIP students volunteer throughout the community on a variety of projects during the school year. Participating schools this year include Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School, École Secondaire Neelin High School, Elton Collegiate, and Vincent Massey High School — and we extend our thanks to the teachers and school administrators who make this program possible!

The student groups are now hard at work selecting their 2026 grant recipients, which will be announced in May. Stay tuned!
