Charitable not-for-profit organizations interested in applying for grant funding from the Brandon Area Community Foundation (BACF) can access a grant application portal on the organization’s website — https://bacf.ca/2024-community-grants-program/ — as of Tuesday, August 5.
The BACF Community Grants program provides funding to qualified applicants from the BACF’s granting area in the following fields of interest: Arts & Culture, Community, Education, Environment, Health and Wellness, and Recreation. https://bacf.ca/2024-community-grants-program/
“We are looking for project applications that show how an organization is making a difference in their community – and that difference can be made in many ways,” said Dean Hammond, volunteer chair of the BACF Board’s Grants Committee.
“Over the past 60 years we have funded hundreds of projects throughout our granting area. This year, we are asking the Westman community to come forward with a strong set of applications that set the stage for our next 60 years of community support.”
Last year, more than 120 organizations shared approximately $1.26 million dollars from the Community Grants Fund. (https://bacf.ca/2023-community-grants/)
The application portal remains open until September 22 at 4 p.m. Approved grants will be announced mid-October. Funds are typically awarded for projects that can be completed in a one-year period beginning in January, 2026.
Since 1965, the Brandon and Area Community Foundation (BACF) has invested more than $12.5 million dollars in numerous community organizations in southwestern Manitoba. Starting with a modest $25,000 gift, the organization celebrates its 60th year of operations with more than $25 million invested in nearly 80 endowed funds.
This legacy commitment from donors now allows the Foundation to grant approximately $1.2 million each year to registered charities and community groups that demonstrate a defined need. We also work with donors to create special purpose funds, donor-directed funds or scholarship funds based on areas of interest.
